Serious Fraud Office (SFO) and Commerce Commission sign new Memorandum of Understanding

The Serious Fraud Office (SFO) and Commerce Commission have signed a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), formalising an enhanced framework for cooperation.

The two agencies have overlapping areas of responsibility and already have a strong, well-established relationship. This MoU ensures alignment with legislative obligations while supporting effective joint action on issues of mutual interest.

The MoU outlines areas where both agencies may have jurisdiction and sets out approaches for determining lead responsibility. It also sets conditions around sharing and retaining information.

This agreement supports a coordinated approach to complex or overlapping matters and helps safeguard the integrity of New Zealand’s markets and financial systems.
